For swimming head to Gran Canaria, clinging to the edge of the Canaries’ largest city, Las Palmas is Las Canteras Beach. At low tide it’s an ideal place for snorkelling, swimming or sunbathing. Talking about sunbathing Punta de Papagayo is great as well with the option to go nude.
If you are not put off by black sand then Gran Canaria’s GuIgui Beach is best for those who need space and tranquillity, it’s a five-hour hike or quicker by boat; it has no amenities.
