Dubbed the 'jewel of the Adriatic', Dubrovnik's old town (or Stari Grad) is set within city walls built from the 13th century onwards. A Unesco World Heritage listed site, it is made up of cobblestone streets, forts and museums. Despite being bombed heavily by Yugoslav forces in 1991, the city has been well preserved and is Croatia's prime tourist destination.

If you live in London like I do, you can rest happy in the knowledge that there are a whole host of sensational beaches within three hours’ journey from the here – and let face it, we’ve had had commutes that took longer than that. So, hop on a plane and before you know it, you’ll be soaking up some rays, getting your surf on and ordering pina colada in a coconut, if that’s what tickles your fancy.
Head to the Dalmatian coast for host of activity, whatever you are into its collection of islands have something for you. Using Split as your base you can enjoy its local beaches or walk its cobbled streets learning about the regions local history, walk the scenes of award winning show Game or Thrones. Foodie lovers can try the local fish carpaccio with a glass of its local wines. There are activities for nature lovers and those who want an adrenalin kick.
Not many of us are able to take our holidays during the summer months for whatever reason. Taking a short break in autumn to get some of the summer sun is another option. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more achitectually impressive hotel than this. Built into the grandstand of the restored San Pedro Bullfighting ring in central Mexico, Quinta Real Zacatecas is so seamlessly built into the original structure that you wouldn’t be surprised if a matador with a red cape swooshed by. Rooms overlook the central former bullring, which witnessed its last bullfight in 1975. It dates back to the 19th century and is now converted into a cobblestoned courtyard and dotted with overflowing plant pots.
The Dalmatian Coast is said to be one of the most beautiful coastline in Europe. Dotted along the Croatian coast are islands, each has its different shape and size and offers its own attraction and beauty. Hvar Island (pronounced phwoar) along with the rest of the Dalmatian Coast has grown into a must visit European destination. It was overlooked for the only Greek islands and its westerly neighbours the Italians. Known as the Croatian Madeira, Hvar receives 300 days of sunshine each year - making it the sunniest spot in the Adriatic both in summer and winter.
