Explore the Lake District

Catch the Lake District on a fine winter’s day and you might think there could be nowhere more beautiful. Endless blue skies, glassy water, and the heather-clad hills that William Wordsworth described as ‘towering above each other, or lifting themselves in ridges like the waves of a tumultuous sea, an in the beauty and variety of their surfaces and colours, they are surpassed by none’.

See London by Bike

Thanks to transport for London cycle hire, there is an additional way of seeing the city that is easy, healthy and fun.  There are more than 750 dockings stations throughout the capital, with more than 11,500 bikes, making it simple to collect or leave a hired bike wherever you are. Whether you want to see the sights, visit a museum or take in the atmosphere, you could combine it with a cycle ride along the river and a picnic in a park.

Escape To West Sussex and the South Downs

You cannot beat the rush of adrenalin combined with muscle burn that you feel after climbing a steep hill to reach the top of the trial. But instead of the fog of fumes and crowded roads of the capital, when you cycle, run or walk in West Sussex it is often just you...reach the peak and take in the breath-taking views across the South Downs, ancient woodland, and out to sea.

Have a Star Day Out at the Royal Ascot

The British summer social scene and sports calendar wouldn't be the same without Royal Ascot.  In a changing world, this is a national treasure of which we can always be sure.  It raises the bar with a distinguished sense of occasion - a horse racing festival par excellence that has earned our affection and respect.  Traditional, yes. Predictable, no.  If you think it's all top hat and tails, with more starch than your local dry cleaners, think again.

Visit North Yorkshire This Summer

North Yorkshire is one of the most beautiful parts of Britain. Home to two National Parks - the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors; two walled cities (Richmond and York); 16 National Trust properties (including the beautiful Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal) and no fewer than 27 castles – it’s got the lot.  When Le Tour de France came to the UK the Yorkshire Dales was the starting point.  Therefore, if it is good for Le Tour de France then it is sure to please the cycle enthusiasts and those who see themselves more advance.

Take a Tree House Short Break

Located in North Devon Biosphere Reserve is the Treetops guest house. Built in a 250-year-old oak tree is this two bedroom three house. The Treetops takes tree house to another level, glamping at another level. This vast tree-home runs over three floors, with the tree passing under, over, around and even through it; there is one particular branch in the lounge having been cunningly covered with a box seat.
